Our Counselling Service.

Sometimes you may need more than an emotional health appointment with Sam Mavin our Emotional Health Practitioner.

Sam may refer you to our counselling service called “Heart of the Matter”.

We have a dedicated therapy room (sponsored by Middlesbrough and Teesside Philanthropic Foundation) called ‘The Heart Room’, where our  counselling takes place. This means you don’t need to miss lots of learning while you travel backwards and forwards to appointments.

We manage our own waiting lists so they are much shorter than external agency waiting times, which means we  get you the help needed more quickly.

How can I access counselling?

You may already be seeing Sam for emotional support and she may feel that you need counselling to help you work through your  worries. if this is the case, she will add you onto the counselling waiting list.

You can also self refer to your form tutor, teachers or Pupil Engagement Officers, your parent or carer can also contact your Pupil Engagement Officer requesting an appointment with Sam Mavin our Emotional Health Practitioner. Sam will assess your current needs and will add you to the Counselling waiting list if she feels this is the right therapy for you.

The Heart Room.

The Heart room offers a comfortable, calming and confidential environment where our counsellors can help you to understand yourself, feel valued, develop self-esteem and explore and manage your difficulties.

Heart of the Matter team.

Our Heart of the Matter team consists of:
