Mission, Ethos and Virtues

At Sacred Heart we have been educating and inspiring young people for over 60 years.
Sacred Heart Secondary was formed in 1963; we have a rich heritage. We have educated generations of Redcar families spanning six decades.
Our school is an inspiring and vibrant place, full of energy and laughter – and amazing people! Everyone is unique and made in God’s image. It is a school where we constantly aim to meet the challenges set out in our principles of ensuring that everyone is safe, happy and successful.

Our Vision

We have a culture of success grounded in the view that hard work, and the success that accompanies it, is a gift from God.

Our Mission
Sacred Heart exists so all members of the community may…

“live life to the full” (John 10:10)

…by inspiring all: to grow in faith, fulfil their potential and find their future. Supporting our pupils to work towards their future.

Exceptional Pastoral Care

“But the very hairs of your head are all numbered.”- Luke 12:7

Our exceptional pastoral care is grounded in the values of Christ. When your child joins Sacred Heart Secondary they enter our family. That means our staff will get to know your child as if they were part of their own family, just as Christ does with all humankind.

Developing Confident, Successful and Happy Pupils

As a high performing school we celebrate and promote academic excellence. Year on year our results far exceed national averages particularly in some of the most academically challenging subjects such as; English, Mathematics and French.

We consistently deliver some of the best results in Redcar & Cleveland. As a result, our pupils go onto study A Levels, higher level apprenticeships and we have a record number of pupils from a North East comprehensive secondary school attending top Russell Group universities including: Oxford and Cambridge.
Our Virtues

At Sacred Heart, we believe that character is just as important as academic success. Our virtues guide everything we do, shaping the way our pupils learn, grow, and contribute to the world around them.

  • Stewardship – We encourage our pupils to care for God’s creation, their communities, and each other, understanding the responsibility that comes with the gifts we are given.
  • Attainment – We inspire ambition and celebrate achievement, helping every pupil strive for their personal best in all aspects of school life.
  • Compassion – We nurture empathy and kindness, fostering a community where everyone is valued and supported.
  • Resilience – We teach pupils to embrace challenges, persevere through difficulties, and grow stronger from setbacks.
  • Effort – We value hard work and dedication, recognizing that consistent effort is the key to real progress and success.
  • Diligence – We instil discipline and attention to detail, ensuring that our pupils approach learning and life with care, focus, and integrity.

These virtues are at the heart of our ethos. They not only guide our teaching and pastoral care but also prepare our pupils to thrive in the wider world, confident in their faith, their values, and their abilities.

📢 GCSE Results Day – Important Collection Information

We’re looking forward to welcoming our Year 11 students tomorrow for GCSE Results Day! 💙

🕘 Students can arrive from 9:00am via the late door near the Sports Hall.

On arrival, students will find a letter addressed to them with two forms to complete. Once these have been handed in, students will receive a ticket to collect their results from the Main Hall.

If a student is unable to attend and would like a parent or friend to collect their results on their behalf, they must email Mr Stabler in advance. The person collecting must also bring a signed letter giving consent from the student.

Please make sure you follow the collection arrangements shown in the graphic.

💙 Good luck, Year 11! We are incredibly proud of you and can’t wait to celebrate your achievements.
