Losing someone close to can be emotionally devastating, whether that be a parent, grandparent, a sibling or someone else who is close to you.

The feeling we experience after someone close to us has died is known a grief. Everyone experiences grief differently and there is no “right” way to feel.

For many young people they find that they struggle to get through day -to-day activities. Even small things like getting out of bed, going to school, talking to friends can somehow seem enormous. Some may find they fall behind on school work because they can’t concentrate.

All these are a common reactions and it maybe that you need support to help you with these feelings.

Talk to your Form Tutor,  Pupil Engagement Officer, Emotional Health Practitioner at School, family member or even a close friend.

Sometimes it can be difficult to speak to someone close to you. There are many helpful, supportive websites that can offer resources in ways to work through your feelings.
