“Students experience a sense of family and community, and a culture of service is a bedrock expectation of all members of the community.”  Section 48 Inspection

Chaplaincy at Sacred Heart is central to the life of the school and plays a vital role in the school’s faith and pastoral mission.

Chaplaincy exists to support the community as it lives out its mission. As chaplain I am here to support our community in many different ways. Part of my role is to ensure that we have a programme of activities throughout the year that reflect the rhythm of the liturgical year. This involves liturgies, tutor activities and extracurricular activities all designed to help our pupils understand the significance of these celebrations.

I am also here to provide pastoral support to both pupils and staff. I work closely with the pastoral team to support pupils who want to grow in understanding of their faith or just need someone to talk to.

One of the key areas of chaplaincy is enabling our community to become involved in social justice projects to help build a better world. Each year during Advent we have a well established hamper project which reaches out to many vulnerable families in our area and local parishes. We also have numerous activities throughout the year to support the work of CAFOD. Pupils are encouraged to take a leadership role and help plan our charity and outreach programmes.

We are called Sacred Heart and in all we do we aim to share the love of Jesus with all, both within school and our wider community.
