“Dear young people, do not bury your talents, the gifts that God has given you!  Do not be afraid to dream of great things!” Pope Francis

The Catholic ethos of the school is centred around encouraging our young people to grow and develop in all ways, in all aspects of their life. It springs from the belief that we are all created in the image and likeness of God and that this gives each of our dignity. All are unique and the life of our school is there to help foster the talents and goals of each pupil.

As well as enrichment opportunities to develop all talents, we seek to give pupils the chance to grow spiritually. To enable this there are opportunities throughout the academic year for pupils to engage in liturgies in both tutor groups and RE groups. There is also the opportunity to take part in form activities aimed to promote self-awareness and a sense of social justice.

Prayer is a key part of the life of Sacred Heart and each day ends with a short time of reflection on the day. During this time pupils have the opportunity to reflect on what went well that day, what they would do differently and what they want to give thanks for. This is part of the school’s culture of gratitude, where we look to give thanks to those who have helped us.
