Danny Corey, BA BEd – Foundation Governor – Chair of the governing body.
Link Governor for Quality of Education and Catholic Standards
Danny has been a member of the Governing Body for ten years. He brings the knowledge of a long career in teaching and understanding of the many changes in education to the role. Danny is also a Governor at St Peter’s Catholic College and gives a lot of time to support the wider governance within the Trust on Governor Discipline Panels. In his spare time, he enjoys a round of golf.
Danny says, “I taught at Sacred Heart for eleven years, my children attended the school and I am hopeful that my grandchildren will attend in the future. I am passionate about the quality of teaching in the current educational environment and desire to ensure that teachers have the necessary guidance, training and practical experience to develop their professional craft. My vision is to have schools where teachers provide an environment which allows pupils to learn and achieve.”
Carole Bennett, BA, BEd, Cert Ed – Foundation Governor
Link Governor for Foundation Governor / Vice Chair / Link Governor for Behaviour & Attitudes
Carole has been a Governor for over twenty years and brings her experience of working in Further Education as a Lecturer and Curriculum Manager to the role. She is involved in the Nicholas Postgate Parish of Redcar and Marske, volunteering on a practical level with cleaning and flower arranging and has also been involved in the parish steering group responding to Pope Francis’ vision of ‘Missionary Disciples in Missionary Parishes in a Missionary Church’.
Carole says, “I have lived in Redcar since the age of eight, worked, married and raised my children in the town. I attended Sacred Heart, as did my siblings. I became a Parent Governor when my children attended the school and then continued as a Foundation Governor. My expertise in Further Education is particularly useful with regard to the progression our students make at the end of year eleven. As a practising Catholic who plays an active part in Church life, I felt that I could support the school in the link governor role, as it strives to include students by displaying Catholic life in school and acts of worship.
I firmly believe that every child in our community deserves the opportunity to attend a school that offers them a first-class education, encourages their individuality, develops their understanding of the world around them and most important of all, makes them believe in themselves. I believe this is also the aim of the school, and I work hard alongside my fellow Governors to ensure we achieve this for the students.”
In her spare time, she enjoys being part of a local running group.
