Welcome from the Headteacher

It is an honour and a privilege to lead Sacred Heart School. As headteacher, it’s my responsibility to ensure your children get the very best education, and that’s why I lead through the eyes of a parent.

My philosophy is clear – if it’s not good enough for my family, it’s not good enough for yours. That’s why I ensure that the high expectations I have for my own child inspire every decision I make.

We are delighted that both Ofsted and the Diocese of Middlesbrough have recognised Sacred Heart as a Good school. We are unashamedly ambitious for our pupils, staff and the whole community. We are proud of our rich heritage and the school’s tradition of academic excellence, combined with outstanding pastoral care.

Sacred Heart seeks to give pupils the best possible start in life, enabling  them to meet the challenges of the wider world with confidence. We welcome students from across Redcar and the surrounding areas to a Catholic community that has prayer and service to others at its heart.

Our Catholic ethos, supported by the work of our lively chaplaincy team, is central to everything we do. Our mission is simple, yet powerful – to help our children grow in faith, fulfil their potential and find their future.

At Sacred Heart, we place special emphasis on the teaching of Jesus found in John’s Gospel, to “Live life to the full”. This means giving our children a school that drives academic excellence and where relationships are based on our values of care, trust and respect.

We are relentlessly ambitious for our pupils, which is why we offer a rich curriculum, both inside and outside the classroom. Our staff are experts in their field, highly qualified, driven and with a passion for bringing the curriculum to life in every lesson, helping pupils create extraordinary work.

We ensure that every lesson counts, no time is wasted, and every pupil leaves school each day feeling that their brain has had a thorough workout. We aim to produce resilient learners who do not fear making mistakes but learn from them, who have a thirst for knowledge and a determination to realise their dreams and aspirations.

Our varied and engaging enrichment programme is designed to complement pupils’ education, enabling us to develop well-balanced individuals of whom we can all be proud.
