This section of the website is dedicated to our parents and carers.

We greatly value the contribution that parents and carers make to the life of the Academy in and beyond the classroom, and in response we are making an effort to maximise the opportunities for greater engagement between us.

In response to your feedback from the Leading Parent Partnership Award we are developing online links for parents/carers to reviewing their child’s attendance, behaviour, attitude to learning and homework.

Non-Resident Parents

Sacred Heart seeks to work together with parents for the good of the child. The Academy holds to and promotes the teaching of the Catholic church on traditional family life, however, we acknowledge that an increasing number of our students are growing up in families with broken relationships, where people who share parental responsibility for a child no longer live in the same house. The Academy will endeavour to recognise and work with all those who have parental responsibility for the students on roll. More information can be found in our Communication with Non-resident Parents Policy which is available to download from our General Policies page.

Emergency Closure

If the Academy is closed for the day (eg. due to adverse weather conditions), this will be advertised on the local radio stations (BBC Radio Cleveland, Radio Tees and TFM). There will also be an announcement on the homepage of the Academy website.

Sacred Heart has a dedicated email address with an automated message which can inform parents/carers of possible Academy closure. Send an email to

In the event that the Academy decides to close early due to snow or flooding, a text message will be sent to all parents.

PARS (including Rewards and Sanctions)

PARS is the system that we use at the Academy for registers, attendance, recording of homework and behaviour, and much, much more! Students are able to accrue positive reward points in recognition of a variety of things from good behaviour to ensuring they have the correct equipment with them for lessons. Negative points can also be accrued for incorrect uniform, late arrival to class, poor behaviour and failure to complete homework on time. The points are totalled and students with the highest scores each term are recognised with rewards.

Parents, carers and students are able to view their points on PARS Insight.

INSIGHT is the system we currently use to allow parents secure access to selected items of information. If you have children at Sacred Heart Secondary and you have not receive details of your login, please send an email with details of your child to

Lost Property

We make every effort to reunite students with their lost property, but unclaimed items can sometimes accumulate at an alarming rate. In order to run an efficient lost property system, we have to dispose of unclaimed items at the end of each half term. Please make sure your son/daughter is aware of this policy and urge them to claim property before the disposal deadline. General lost property can be claimed from the Main Office, any items of PE equipment or kit are passed to the PE department.

All lost property which is not claimed and which is suitable for sale, is collected by the Great North Air Ambulance and sold to raise funds for them.
